We engage with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders through various projects, dialogue, initiatives and consultations, helping us form effective partnerships toward better business, better lives and better solutions.
Examples of 2020 engagements and outcomes
  • Formed Moody’s ESG Solutions to serve the growing global demand for ESG insights, products and solutions.
  • Launched the Moody’s Investors Service (MIS) ESG Issuer Profile and Credit Impact Scores to increase the transparency that our customers seek on how ESG factors are incorporated into MIS’s credit analysis.
  • Launched Moody’s Multicultural Customer Initiative to support multicultural institutions with our expertise, products and solutions, and placed cash deposits of Moody’s Corporation with three Black-owned banks to help support the communities they serve.

  • Launched Moody's Moments that Matter: a virtual series designed to support employees with education and empowerment on issues including mental health, resilience and how to thrive in the face of life’s ordinary and extraordinary circumstances.
  • Moody’s 2020 Business Engagement Survey provided leadership with useful insights related to culture, work-life balance and career development.
  • Launched Moody’s Courageous Conversations: Business Resource Group-led sessions that serve as an incubator for learning, from understanding how racial unrest affects our employees across the world to educating our leaders on the experiences of those from diverse backgrounds.

  • Added sustainability and ESG content to Moody’s Investor Relations page on our website, disclosures and presentations to address topics such as diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), climate commitments and changes in management.
  • Pivoted to virtual Investor Day 2020 due to COVID-19, with multiple members of senior management in attendance.
  • Announced our support of the “Say on Climate” campaign in our 2021 proxy statement and our stockholders supported the advisory resolution at our 2021 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, which took place on April 20.
Examples of 2020 engagements and outcomes
  • Engaged with nearly 300 of our top suppliers and requested that they participate in the annual CDP disclosure. In 2020, 26% of our suppliers by spend reported to have science-based targets.
  • We are committed to providing equal access to business opportunities with Moody’s. We are working to encourage diverse supplier spend through our Supplier Diversity Program.
Examples of 2020 engagements and outcomes
  • Moody’s and WEConnect International’s “Financing Your Growing Business” program supported women business owners through interactive boot camps and online training modules, focusing on credit training and accessing markets and capital.
  • Partnered with Village Capital in Latin America and the U.S. to empower small and medium-sized enterprises and minority-led businesses with financial knowledge.
Examples of 2020 engagements and outcomes
  • Shared MIS and MA thought leadership and research with over 300 policymakers and policy influencers worldwide to help assess COVID-19-related risks and impacts and shared further analysis with those policymakers who engaged in this outreach.
  • Partnered with Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) to help businesses integrate sustainable decision-making into their financial metrics.
  • Participated in the UN Global Compact’s “CFO Taskforce for the SDGs” and “Reporting on the SDGs” Action Platforms. In 2021, we joined the Action Platform on “Climate Ambition.”
